About

The Face Behind the Spoon

That would be my face, Jennifer Morgenthaler.  Other names I am called?  Jenny.  Jen-Jen.  Morgen-shorter.  Mrs. M.  Mrs. Morgenflower (as my kindergarten students say).  I teach elementary school music by day. I help kids express themselves, create, and appreciate the things that make life more colorful.  When I get home at night, I am exhausted!  Sometimes the thought of cooking after a taxing day is a daunting prospect, but once I get into the kitchen, I start to mellow.  It becomes my turn to express myself, create, and appreciate the power that good food has on my state of being.

The Regulars

Two personalities frequently grace my kitchen.  Morgen-taller is my attractive food taster, copy editor, sous chef, technologist, oh, and husband.  Morgen-shortest is the newest addition to the kitchen; a soft coated wheaten terrier.  Mostly she resembles a muppet and entertains me as I cook.

    Lovely blog and lovely photos:)

  8. Great blog and great pictures! I was looking for your contact information. Do you have an email so that I can send a non-public message (I guess that would mean private, but I didn’t want it to sound suspicious!). I just wanted to ask you about your gluten-free recipes. Thanks!

    Hey Jenny,
Too cute! Love your photos. I might look at things differently when I go to the grocery store now! I really like your dog pic with the marmalade. I’m not sure how sanitary it is, but it’s cute! Hey, who cares about sanitary, we work with small germy children! I might make my husband try some of your recipes and I can be the sous chef. I have my eye on that french toast!
    Love,
    Michelle B.

Jenny, Your father sent this to me and I have to say I am blown away. Your way with words makes a chore like cooking sound colorful and almost fun.

So with this said, I shall try a few of these and maybe my family will enjoy the dinner table a bit more than in the past.

I am the worlds worst cook….and I have learned to accept this title, but between you and I, I have always wanted to be more…..I try, only to come out with lots of hours of work and terrible food!!!

So, Thank You for the inspiration. I will continue to look forward to new yummy ideas.

Your Photography is incredible, I really see this becoming a best selling cookbook.

    Sincerely, Ashlie Berry

    • Ashlie, I am so glad you are enjoying my blog and that you are feeling inspired! I hope that cooking will become less of a chore and that you will be proud of what you create in the kitchen. Thank you for sending me such kind words. It made my day!
