Classic Guacamole

Serves: 4-5 servings as an appetizer
Ingredients
  • 3 ripe avocados
  • 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lime juice (Give or take, to taste)
  • salt to taste, approximately ½ teaspoon
  • 1 to 2 jalapeƱos, finely chopped
  • 1 habaƱero, minced (optional, if you like it spicy)
  • ½ medium yellow or red onion, finely chopped
  • 1 small tomato, diced
  • ½ teaspoon ground cumin
  • leaves and upper stems from a small bunch of cilantro, finely chopped
Instructions
  1. Slice the avocados in half around the pit. Remove the pit. Score the inside of the avocado flesh with a butter knife, and scoop out the flesh into a bowl with a spoon. Repeat with the remaining avocados. Add the lime juice and salt. Mash the avocado pieces against the side of the bowl using a fork until mostly smooth with some texture remaining. Add the rest of the ingredients, and gently fold and stir them into the mashed avocado. Adjust lime juice and salt to taste.
