Ingredients
  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 3 large cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 24 oz can crushed tomatoes
  • 2 teaspoons dried italian herbs
  • salt to taste
  • crushed red pepper to taste (optional)
Instructions
  1. Heat the olive oil in a medium saucepan over medium high heat. Add the garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes, until softened but not browned. Add the tomatoes, herbs, crushed red pepper (if using), and salt to taste. Bring to a boil over med-high heat. Decrease heat to medium low and cook for 20-30 minutes at a high simmer, stirring occasionally, and lowering heat if it begins to stick to the bottom of the pan. Taste and adjust seasonings. Blend in a food processor or blender if you'd like a smooth texture.
